Camperfun is a family-run motorhome hire company based in Brighton & Hove, hiring to customers right across Sussex. Our fleet runs from compact 2 berth vehicles up to 7 berth motorhomes, all owned and maintained by us rather than sublet from a booking network, with prices starting from £115 a day.

Sussex is an unusually good county to start a motorhome trip from. You have the South Downs National Park running the length of it, roughly seventy miles of coast between Chichester Harbour in the west and Camber Sands in the east, and easy road links onward to Kent, Hampshire and the New Forest. Very few counties let you go from a harbour to open chalk downland in half an hour.

Where in Sussex we hire to

We collect and drop off from Brighton, and customers travel to us from across both halves of the county. Brighton, Hove, Lewes, Worthing, Shoreham and Newhaven are all a short drive from the handover point. Eastbourne, Hastings, Horsham and Chichester are comfortably reachable, and we regularly hand over to people who have travelled in from further afield in either direction along the A27.

Trips that start well from Sussex

The obvious first move is the South Downs themselves. The national park stretches from Winchester to Eastbourne, and the eastern end is on the doorstep: Devil’s Dyke, Ditchling Beacon and the Seven Sisters. It makes a good shakedown trip if you have not driven a motorhome before, because nothing is more than an hour away if you change your mind.

Heading west along the coast takes you through Arundel and Chichester and on towards the New Forest and Dorset. Heading east gives you Rye, Camber Sands and the Kent coast. For a longer tour, Sussex is a sensible launch point for the West Country, the Norfolk Broads or a run north. Plenty of our customers use a Sussex pickup as the start of a fortnight rather than a weekend.

What to think about before you book

Two numbers matter more than any other: how many people are sleeping, and how many need a seatbelted travelling seat. They are not always the same figure, and it catches people out. Every vehicle below lists both, so it is worth checking against your group before you settle on a size.

Beyond that, larger motorhomes give you fixed beds and more storage, which matters on a longer trip, while the smaller vehicles are easier to park and cheaper to run.
